Tom Scharpf

  • ECD/EVP Leo Burnett
  • Chicago, IL

Tom Scharpf began his career as one of the star Art Directors of the inaugural class of the now-heralded VCU Brandcenter. While just an intern at Ogilvy & Mather, Toronto, Tom even managed to win two Cannes Lions for his Jaguar work.

Upon graduating, Tom took gainful employment at Fallon, Minneapolis, where he did award-winning work for United Airlines, Holiday Inn Express, Starbucks, Nikon and Miller Lite.

In 2006, Scharpf became ACD at Venables Bell & Partners. In his 12 years at VB&P, his creative efforts also helped to land the Audi, SKYY Vodka, Chef Boyardee, Adidas Golf, Google Fiber and Chipotle accounts. In 2014, Scharpf led the “Look Inside” work for Intel that garnered 5 Bronze Lions in Cannes. In 2015 he helped relaunch the global creative for Reebok, which took home another two Lions. Most recently, his efforts helped pick up another Bronze Lion with the re-launch of the Chipotle brand in 2017.

In the fall of 2018, Scharpf became ECD/EVP at Leo Burnett Chicago and is currently helping to guide the global Samsung account.

His client experience runs the gamut of everything from Johnnie Walker, to Adidas, to Electronic Arts, to Dyson, to Converse, to Samsung.

His work has been featured in the One Show, Communication Arts, The New York Times, Ad Age, Luerzer's Archive, Creativity and has been named Adweek's "Ad of the Day" on eight separate occasions.

In addition to having a graphic design background, Tom prides himself on being a strong writer and strategic thinker. In his spare time, he attends to his three children, takes photographs of Americana, writes children’s books, and plays no more than five chords on his guitar.
